Meet the Team Blog - Karim Righi
With a short hop over to Corrotherm International Europe in the Netherlands, we find out more about Sales Manager Karim Righi

Name: Karim Righi
Position: Sales Manager
Time at Corrotherm: A month

Corrotherm International has bases all over the world, helping us to deliver our excellent customer service right where it’s needed. As well as the UK office in Southampton, you can find Corrotherm in the Middle East and Asia Pacific. For our European operations, we are based in Amersfoort in the Netherlands, where several notable corporations are also located.

New to the European team is Sales Manager Karim Righi, who only became part of the company in June of this year. However, our reputation clearly preceded us, as Karim says that he’s been aware of Corrotherm for more than a decade, and had already had contact with many of our employees.

He started his career in a similar environment to Corrotherm, a company that originally started as a project management organisation before later becoming a stockist for metal alloys. Here, Karim was responsible for the stock sales division. His practical experience in sales management, as well as his in-depth knowledge of materials, made him the perfect candidate for a role at Corrotherm. He was approached by Director Martijn Verstappen to join the team.

It’s clear that he’s passionate about his role. He says that what he likes best about his work is, “the challenge of creating new business on the European continent and working with the most interesting material grades available in our market segment (high nickel alloys).” He also enjoys his daily contact with clients and suppliers, and finds it a thrill to book new orders.

While he finds all of the Grades interesting to work with, he has a couple of particular favourites: INCONEL alloy 625 and INCOLOY alloy 825. “I’ve worked with these two Grades from the beginning of my career in the stainless steel/high nickel business and I still love to work with them every day.”

Outside of work, Karim is pretty active, taking part in tennis, skiing and golf. Downtime outside of work is spent with his family – his wife and 4.5-year-old daughter, with a son on the way this summer – and he says that he’s interested in literature, antiquities, history, cars and boats. Plenty to keep him busy then!

Being quite globally aware, he says that climate change is one of the biggest challenges that the industry is facing now, as new restrictions are imposed by the European government with only a short period before changes need to be implemented: “This brings lots of opportunities, but also challenges for some of the markets we serve.”

He sees a lot of other changes and challenges hitting the industry that he loves in the next five years too: “There are so many geopolitical issues. You have the upcoming Brexit, the difficulties in some parts of the Middle East, etc. I’m confident that this all will be solved and that the market will thrive as it always has.”

We’re really happy to have such an enthusiastic member of the team driving our sales forward in Europe. His passion for the products shines through, which helps us to build such strong customer relations. And the feeling is clearly mutual: “It’s an honour to work for this company since it’s such a well-known and respected company in the market.”

It’s great to have Karim and look forward to hearing the exciting news of his family’s latest addition in the next couple of months.
