Having been part of the Corrotherm International team for almost 13 years, Mark has seen the company and the industry go through a lot of changes. We took the opportunity to get his thoughts on what it’s like working at Corrotherm and to find out why he's stayed with us for so long.

Name: Mark Gosnell-Lee

Position: Warehouse manager

Time at Corrotherm: 12 years and 10 months

Interests and hobbies: Walking his dog

Tea or coffee: Tea

As Phill touched upon in our previous meet the team feature, working at Corrotherm is about having fun as well as getting the job done. We pride ourselves on being professional, but that doesn’t mean work has to be boring! "I'd describe it as the Corrotherm family," says Mark. "We need to get the work done and provide the customer service that we're known for, but we still enjoy spending time together. Even better, there's usually an event planned that we all look forward to."

In fact, Mark counts our team building days among his fondest Corrotherm memories, which have included donning period dress to get in the spirit of watching classic cars at the Goodwood Revival festival - although there have been plenty of classic moments in the warehouse too! Being part of such a fun and hardworking team is one of the key reasons Mark has chosen to stay at Corrotherm for as long as he has.

Having started his career as an apprentice motor mechanic in Hammersmith, Mark takes enormous satisfaction in running the warehouse and in making sure the job is done to the highest of standards. Talking technical for a moment, Mark cites INCOLOY alloy 945 as his favourite Corrotherm product due to the opportunities it offers for deeper exploration of wells. "Such a highly corrosive environment means there aren't many alloys up to the challenge. It seems to me that alloy 945 could really shape the future of the industry, and help it make the most of difficult-to-reach resources."

On the topic of the future of the oil industry over the next five years, Mark is cautiously optimistic about an eventual upturn. With UK North Sea oil and gas fields recently increasing production for the first time in 15 years, it does seem that there is some welcome good news around.

However, there’s no shying away from some of the serious challenges facing the UK's manufacturing industry at the moment, and Mark specifically mentions the latest job losses at Tata Steel’s Port Talbot plant when discussing this topic. He feels that more joined-up thinking from Westminster would help secure the long term future of UK manufacturing and avoid further job losses like those seen in Wales.

On a lighter note, with the beautiful New Forest right on our doorstep, Mark finds himself in the perfect part of the country to walk his dog, which is where you’re most likely to find him on a Saturday morning. We asked Mark if he has any hidden talents and he told us that his is shouting loudly. Perhaps this skill was honed when trying to get the dog to come back after running off deep into the forest? Either way, it’s definitely a useful skill to have when you’re busy working in a noisy warehouse!
