Meet the Team – John Drinkall, Shipping Manager, Corrotherm International
Continuing our series of blogs looking at members of the Corrotherm International team, this time we focus on Shipping Manager John Drinkall

Name: John Drinkall

Position: Shipping Manager

Time at Corrotherm: 6 months

One of the things that we’re proud of at Corrotherm is our strong team. Every single person is valued and respected, and works hard in their individual roles. A shared work ethic and the ability to pull together to help deliver top customer service from all departments is what stands Corrotherm apart.

Therefore, it’s always important to us to attract and recruit fresh talent into the team to help us continue to build upon our day-to-day operation as we strive to achieve the best we can.

One of our more recent members of the team is John Drinkall, an experienced Shipping Manger. John has been with us for six months and already says that it’s the strong drive to deliver the best that makes him proud of his position in the company: “The great work ethic and attention to detail that goes through the whole core of the business. From sales, to warehousing and shipping.”

John brings his own key skills to the team, with communication being his specific forte, so much so that he refers to it as his ‘hidden talent’: “Communication, from warehouse through to sales, so that everyone is fully aware of all orders and what is required at each stage. It keeps things running smoothly with no fuss.”

When he’s not using his communication skillset to ensure the business keeps running in a streamlined fashion, he is spending time with his children, devoting his free time to ensuring they enjoy themselves, learn and develop positively – installing that same strong work ethic through the generations.

As a father of four, John is no stranger to being kept on his toes at home and it is the challenges at work that he enjoys the most about his job role. When asked what he likes best about his work, he says: “The constant challenge to consolidate orders in time for delivery. Improving our logistical global network, increasing our service levels at the same time as saving money.” He also says that his favourite part of the job is working with his team: “[They are] all good people and good humoured.” As a reflection of the close-knit team nature at Corrotherm, John reflects on his fondest memory at the company so far as the time they had a sales meeting for everyone in a lovely Indian restaurant.

Of course, the industry that John works in is no stranger to challenges itself. The one that crops up time and time again is unavoidable delays, which can affect the whole shipping process, as he explains: “Due to the high spec of the products, they will always be used in high-end applications and, as such, will be needed promptly. Unfortunately, this can lead to longer lead times as everything must be perfect, and fully tested and inspected.”

When asked how he would overcome these issues given free rein, he says: “I would ensure that all orders have inspections done on the manufacturer’s site and witnessed by third-party inspectors as industry standard before being dispatched and have that built into the lead time. This would allow much more flexibility and meet more time-critical deadlines.” A wise and knowledgeable insight indeed.
