Representatives from the biggest names in the E&P industry will be flocking to the grey shores of Aberdeen next week for the annual Offshore Europe Conference and Exhibition.

Taking place 8-11 September, this essential show attracts over 60,000 industry professionals and 1,500 exhibitors from across the world, showcasing the latest innovations and technology, as well as exploring the future of the industry. While an important date in the UK calendar, it is also an international affair, with over 100 countries represented.

Corrotherm prides itself on staying up-to-date with industry happenings and maintains a firm finger on the pulse by attending this must-visit event.

Our CEO Jan Ward explains why she'll be making the trip from the UK's south coast to the Granite City. "I make a point of visiting this key show: it's an ideal opportunity to keep up with current industry thinking and trends, as well as seeing the latest technology and hearing about innovative projects and applications - all under one roof.

"For example, we've been seeing  INCONEL alloy C-276 steadily growing in popularity in recent years - is this trend likely to continue? Plus, of course, I'm looking forward to the many opportunities which Offshore Europe offers to connect with interesting businesses and technologies."

For 2015, the theme of the five-day show is How To Inspire The Next Generation. This topic is explored through a packed conference schedule to address current issues in the industry, not least a growing skills gap and the knowledge needed to continue to drive forward with innovative solutions for future energy needs. The Conference will address two key areas: first, how to continue to responsibly meet a growing demand for oil and gas; and second how to find, train and retain the right people to help develop future solutions and technologies.

One notable appearance is by Professor Brian Cox, OBE, who will be talking at the Opening Plenary on the main theme of the event, exploring the future of the industry and how to inspire the next generation of engineers to step up to meet these challenges.

Other talks of interest include a Keynote session on The Challenge Of Our Generation, chaired by IPIECA Executive Director Brian Sullivan. This will look at the issues of balancing supply and affordability, with environmental and social responsibilities, including how to manage climate change. The complex issue will be addressed over two sessions to give delegates a chance to debate possible solutions and leave inspired.

As well as the Keynote speeches, there are Technical sessions aimed at educating and informing attendees on key issues in more detail. This includes topics such as Developing Talent to Meet Demand, which links back into the show’s key theme. If you read our blog regularly, you'll know that we're a firm believer in encouraging new talent through apprenticeships, which give people like our team member Will Best a start in the industry, so we're very interested in this topic.

The free-to-attend conference is just one reason that industry professionals are encouraged to visit the show. The Offshore Europe Exhibition is also taking place, with stands from 1,500 suppliers, including over 130 new exhibitors. This gives us, and the thousands of other attendees, the chance to get up-close and hands-on with future cost-saving and production-enhancing technologies.
