NILO® alloy K with 29 wt% Nickel and 17 wt% Cobalt, has a coefficient of expansion which matches the expansion rate of borosilicate glass and alumina ceramics. The expansion rate decreases with rising temperature up to the Curie point which provides good resistance to thermal shock in glass to metal seals. Other applications include flash bulbs, high power transmitting valves, transistor leads and headers.
