We meet the man with exceptional technical knowledge and expertise, who helps our customers in the Middle East from our Dubai office, Muzammil Umar.

Name: Muzammil Umar
Position: Senior Sales Engineer, Dubai
Time at Corrotherm: 4 years
Interests and hobbies: Cricket

With offices around the globe, Corrotherm is able to reach customers wherever they are based. But no matter which Corrotherm branch you work with, you’ll be met with the same experienced, passionate staff to help you meet your project’s needs. That’s because we like to think of all of our employees as one big family.

One of the key faces in our Dubai office is Senior Sales Engineer Muzammil Umar. Muzammil has been working with Corrotherm for the last four years, working his way up from a Sales Engineer role. When we first chatted to him for our blog, back in July 2012, he expressed how excited he was about his new role and we were equally pleased to welcome him to the team.

Fast forward to 2016, and Muzammil provides essential technical support to Regional Sales Manager Sayeed Junied, who we profiled in April. Before Muzammil came into his role, certain tasks, such as technical clarifications, offer preparations and internal sales activities, were dealt with in the UK, but having a dedicated person for these matters, based at the heart of the Dubai office, is a real boon for the business.

Muzammil has a wealth of experience in the industry. He is a qualified Mechanical Engineer who has worked in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries, as well as pipe fabrication, previous to joining the Corrotherm team. This means that he came to us with a wide range of knowledge and an inside understanding of the market, which has proved invaluable over the years.

Starting his career in India, Muzammil went on to work in the Middle East, including an Abu Dhabi-based business where he was in a similar role to the one he holds at Corrotherm. He knows the market in the region inside out and has an exceptional technical knowledge of Corrotherm’s product line.

When asked which product stands out for him, Muzammil highlights the INCONEL Alloy 625, saying: “Corrotherm has a monopoly in the 625 pipes business, because of our excellent pricing and product quality.”

Because of his time in the oil and gas industry, Muzammil has seen all of the ups and downs, but he believes that it will be much more stable after 2018. He says that the greatest challenge comes from companies coming into the market offering cheaper, but poorer-quality, products: “Currently, the market is driven by cheap prices and people should be made aware of the saying, ‘The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten’.”

Muzammil has now been with us for four years and he still enjoys his role, especially meeting new people. His favourite part of the job is meeting the “day-to-day challenges to find the solution for [a] client’s technical requirements”.
