We go on a journey to our Asia Pacific office in Korea and get to know one of the key team members, Jay Jang, a little better

Name: Jay Jang
Position: Business Development Manager
Time at Corrotherm: 2 years
Interests and hobbies: Camping, travelling

Corrotherm is an international company, with offices located all around the world in our key markets. However, we like to think that everyone who works for us is part of one big team, so we wanted to sit down with Jay Jang, our Business Development Manager for Corrotherm Asia Pacific Pty Ltd in Korea, to find out a bit more about him and his role.

Jay has been working with the Corrotherm family for just over two years. Before this, he spent four years as an engineer working on the hull parts in Korean shipyards, before progressing as a Sales manager, for a company that manufactures fittings and pipes

Jay’s experience as an engineer and in sales means that he understands business from both a company and a customer point of view. This gives him a unique perspective on how to deliver exactly the service that our clients expect. He says that his favourite part of the role is the sales side: “I like to meet the customers and persuade them to buy our products.”

In his time working for Corrotherm, he has had an important job bringing our products to a new market. “Nickel alloys weren't as well-known as they are now,” explains Jay. “I was excited to introduce our range to South Korean customers enabling them to be more competitive in the global market, especially the Middle East.” As he knows the products so well, picking a favourite Grade is a difficult task, but Jay opts for INCONEL 625 pipes, “because we are very competitive about price and delivery date for the product.” It’s a popular choice, as the INCONEL Alloy 625 is suitable for such a wide range of industries, including aerospace, oil extraction and paper and power, due to its high strength and outstanding corrosion resistance. You can read more about this particular alloy in our recent Product Focus

Having worked in the industry for so long, Jay has seen the ups and downs first hand and he knows that even when things look bleak, it’s best to remain positive and practical: “The current depressed global market can only get better, but we are faced with growing competition especially from China.”

But it’s not all work and no play. Jay is a keen traveller and has been to more than 20 different countries, including Spain, France, Taiwan, China, Japan and South America. When he’s not jet setting, he also enjoys camping with friends, so you can often find him in a tent in the mountains on a Saturday morning. His interest in travelling means that he has a good understanding of global markets and issues, giving him a fantastic perspective over our whole industry.
