Power generation
Our in-house team’s matchless expertise and acknowledged experience ensure we’re right at the heart of the latest advances in alloy development and performance.
Comprehensive range
We supply alloys from the INCONEL®, INCOLOY®, NIMONIC® and UDIMET® ranges which have a wide range of power generation applications.
Alloys at work
High resistance to corrosion, cracking, and deformation at high temperatures make them highly effective in nuclear fission development programmes, solar engineering and coal, oil and waste fuelled installations.
Applications include very long power turbine blades in INCOLOY® alloy X-750, UDIMET® alloy X-720, NIMINIC® alloy 80A and NIMONIC® alloy 81 for steam to power conversion via Carnot Sterling and other steam cycle systems.
Supercritical systems
The latest supercritical and ultrasupercritical steam energy generation systems need steam boiler tubulars and fasteners to manage steam temperatures in excess of 720 °C and specify UDIMET® alloy 720 and INCONEL ® alloy 617 for their stability.
New fourth generation nuclear power stations will use INCONEL® alloy 690 for internal reactor components and steam generation circuit including baffles, tubing and welding products.
Containment vessel segments and bellows in nuclear fusion reactors use INCOLOY® alloy 600 and INCONEL® alloy 625, whilst INCOLOY® alloy 908 is used for toroidal magnets.
Technological expertise
We have enormous in-house experience and technical resources in this sector and always provide information regarding the latest technological developments and applications as well as immediate availability and cost details.
